MDPM

HOW IT WORKS

  • The Mock Draft Performance Measurement (MDPM) is the first scoring system that measures the performance of a Mock Draft by using a point system. Instead of measuring a Mock Draft by correct picks only, the MDPM uses several value based scenarios to rate a Mock Draft based on a 160 point scale. It is the standard scoring system for all mock drafts. The MDPM will score a mock draft’s 1st round only.
  • The way the MDPM works:

The first step is to look at which player the Mock Draft has in the draft position in comparison to where that player was officially drafted. The MDPM also takes into account the team at that spot as well as the position.

For example: If a Mock Draft has OT Luke Joeckel predicted to go #1 to the Kansas City Chiefs, but OT Eric Fisher was taken #1, the MDPM then finds where Luke Joeckel was officially drafted and scores points based on the scoring below. In this case Joeckel was drafted #2 to the Jaguars so the Mock Draft would receive 3 points – Player correct within 2 spots up or down: 3pts (excludes next round picks).

The point system values the following scenarios with the attached points.

  • Player, team and spot are all correct: 5pts
  • Player and spot are correct / Incorrect team: 4pts
  • Player and team are correct / Incorrect spot: 4pts
  • Player correct within 2 spots up or down: 3pts (excludes next round picks)
  • Player correct within 5 spots up or down : 2pts (excludes next round picks)
  • Player correct within 10 spots up or down: 1pt (excludes next round picks)
  • Team, spot and player position are correct: 1pt

The highest point total a MD can have is: 160pts

*Points will be given for only 1 scenario even if the pick has multiple scenarios. The higher point total that fits the specific scenario will always be awarded.

Example: if a MD has the player and team correct but the player is chosen 2 spots later, the mock draft would get 4 pts only (not 4pts AND 3pts)

Example: If the player is chosen 2 spots later, the MD would get 3pts (not 3pts, 2pts and 1pt even though it is within 2, 5 and 10 spots).

Player positions are defined as: QB, RB, FB, WR, TE, OL, DL, LB, CB, S, K, P

* The position of the player is determined by what postion they officially registered for at the NFL Draft.

Have you ever considered about adding a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is important and everything.
However think about if you added some great visuals
or videos to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent
but with pics and videos, this site could definitely be one of the greatest
    in its niche. Terrific blog!
